Welcome

The Australian Rangeland Society is an independent and non-aligned association whose members wish to see that the rangelands are used in a sustainable fashion for any purpose commensurate within their innate capacity. It is established as a Company under Corporations law of the Commonwealth.

Membership is open to any person interested in the use and management of rangelands for any purpose at all.

We welcome members from any discipline associated with rangeland use and particularly those who are involved in the day-to-day management of the land for production, conservation, mining, living or recreation.

We believe that there are many stakeholders in the rangelands. We see our role as providing a forum for the free exchange of ideas and information about the rangelands.

The objectives of the society are:
- To understand the varied and competing uses of rangelands;
- To provide expert analysis of rangeland issues;
- To provide the meeting ground for multi-disciplinary cooperation in rangeland management and research; and
- To assist in the development of policy for sustainable use of rangelands and to provide expert analysis and comment upon rangeland issue.
