David outlines what the Society has been up to in 2017 and what it has planned for 2018. Of special note is the Society’s interest in bidding to host the 2024 International Rangelands Congress – David is keen to hear from anybody who may be willing to join a committee to help lodge the bid by mid-2018.

3-minute ‘Lightning’ presentations format were trialled with great success at the recent Australian Rangelands Conference in Pt Augusta. These short, sharp presentations certainly captured the audience’s interest.
In another first for the ARS, the recent Biennial conference included a session designed for students and young professionals which looked at what it takes to be successful in a rangeland-related profession.
