The Joint XXIV IRC and XI IRC congress will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, October 25 – 30, 2020. The theme of the Congress is Sustainable Use of Grassland and Rangeland Resources for Improved Livelihoods.
The aim of the congress will be to promote the interchange of scientific and technical information on all aspects of grasslands and rangelands: including grassland and rangeland ecology; forage production and utilization; livestock production systems; wildlife, tourism and multi-facets of grassland and rangeland; drought management and climate change in rangelands; pastoralism, social, gender and policy issues and capacity building, extension and governance.
As indicated on the congress website (http://2020kenya-igc-irc.rangelandcongress.org/), the International Grassland and Rangeland Congress promotes interchange of information on all aspects of natural and cultivated grasslands and forage crops for the benefit of mankind, including sustained development, food production and the maintenance of biodiversity.
The conference program is still being put together however the Organising Committee have announced a few of the Keynote Speakers including Dr Brandon Bestelmeyer (USDA Agricultural Research Service), Dr Jonathon Davies (International Union for Conservation of Nature) and Dr John Caradus (Grasslanz Technology).
The Organising Committe are also currently calling for abstracts for panels, papers and posters with further information about the Congress themes and the submission guidelines available here. Note that submissions close on 1 October 2019 for panel sessions and 15 November 2019 for abstracts of papers and posters. Acceptance of papers and posters will be ongoing and authors will be informed of the status of their submission typically within four months of submission and no later than 15 March 2020.
