KOONAMORE VEGETATION RESERVE 100-YEAR CELEBRATIONS: 11-12 OCTOBER

One hundred years of research at the TGB Osborne Vegetation Reserve on Koonamore Station will be celebrated with a weekend of activities in Yunta and at the Reserve on 11-12 October.

The two-day event will include guest speakers, presentations, book launch, a formal dinner and visit to the reserve, which has long supported the work of students from the University of Adelaide.

Saturday 11 October 2025 (Yunta Race Club)

– 3pm Afternoon tea

– 3:30pm Official welcome and introductions

– 4-5pm Guest speakers including Dr Louise Emmerson, Jose Facelli and Rebecca Greening

– 5pm Book launch

– 6pm Centenary dinner (ticketed event). A three-course dinner catered by the local community and featuring local ingredients and flavours. 

Sunday 12 October 2025 (Tours to Koonamore Vegetation Reserve)
Guided tours to the Koonamore Vegetation Reserve will depart on two buses with commentary from the Yunta Race Club following breakfast. Spaces are strictly limited. Please note, tours are subject to change.

– 7:30am Breakfast and Networking (Yunta Race Club)

– 9am Guided tours leave Yunta Race Club

    Rangelands Rehydration – The importance of water cycles and water flows in arid ecology

– 10:15 – 11:30 Tours meet for morning tea in the Koonamore Creek Cutting.

Underlying Geology of Osborn – Creek Cutting & history of deposition and erosion over the millennia

Climate of the past – the Climate of the Future.  How has the climatic past influenced today’s landscape

› Pearl Bluebush Walk – the amazing long life of a little blue bush

› Tracing tracks and scats – tracking for signs of life in the Rangelands
